Food Allergy Virtual Library

A free information resource for choosing safe food

 PROJECT SUMMARY

The Food Allergy Virtual Library will be a free, interactive digital library of all known allergens in common food products, helping people with food allergies, celiac disease and food intolerances make safe food choices.
Mission Statement

It is the mission of FoodAllergyLibrary to use technology-driven information sources to provide the public with free, easy-to-use, reliable and non-commercially driven information on allergens present in common food products.

“Parents of children with food allergies often ask their physician if it is safe for their child to eat certain foods.  Unfortunately there is no readily available source to find this information.  Even with the product in hand it is often hard to know exactly what is meant by what is on the label.  A common source for information describing the contents of commercial food products would be invaluable for physicians and for parents.  Allowing both groups to sleep better at night - knowing that they have not given a child something to which they could be allergic.

"The virtual library will use the multiple search level platform common to most social networking sites, data will be searchable through multiple approaches."
